‘The Athens of the North’, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site!
The beautiful Victorian city of Edinburgh, capital of Scotland!
On this historic, mystical and yet fun-filled day, we will, of course, visit Edinburgh, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the capital of this wonderful country known as Scotland, or Alba in Gaelic, its original language. Edinburgh is built on seven volcanic hills; two fine examples of this, as we shall see, are the two hills marking the start and end of the famous ‘Royal Mile’; the rock upon which Edinburgh Castle stands; and the hill known as ‘Arthur’s Seat’ or ‘Arthur’s Throne’. As well as visiting the castle, we will also explore the most ‘haunting’ remains of the Old Town, now underground. We will stroll through the Old Town and the New Town, admiring the incredible Victorian buildings for which Edinburgh is a World Heritage Site, and the Writers’ Museum, as this is a city with a rich university and literary tradition, home to writers such as Sir Walter Scott (Ivanhoe, Rob Roy), Arthur Conan Doyle (Sherlock Holmes), Robert Louis Stevenson (Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde), the famous poet Robert Burns and the world’s tallest writer’s monument: the Sir Walter Scott Monument! amongst others. We’ll stroll along the famous Royal Mile to see the exterior of the Royal Palace, or Holyrood Palace. But, in case we haven’t impressed you enough, this is only half of what this historic day has to offer. We’ll visit two of the city’s iconic cathedrals, the eerie Greyfriars Cemetery, have lunch at the pub where the famous Harry Potter was born, and enjoy the wonderful views of the city from Calton Hill – but we’re not finished yet. To discover the ‘darkest’ corners of old Edinburgh, we’ll travel on the spine-chilling ghost bus, visiting the places that have shrouded Scotland’s capital in that mysterious mist throughout its history. We’ll round off this unforgettable day with a wonderful dinner in one of the city’s most iconic restaurants. We won’t say goodbye just yet; after this wonderful trip, we hope to see you again here in Scotland, the dreamlike Celtic land!

- Accommodation: at “ScotlandTrips International” our selection of usual accommodation is above the average in the same rating scales that other companies offer. The two options are subject to availability and options of the beautiful towns to visit. Especially in wonderful Scotland, our B&B and Guest House selection are at the same level of quality and comfort within our excellent selection, being able to be even more comfortable than a hotel, although a hotel offers more services such as restaurant or bar. Depending on the availability on the dates of the contracted services, the accommodation may be located at a greater or lesser distance from the local centre or even in the closest locations with availability, without thereby stopping any content of the program or itinerary, therefore, the longer the reservation is in advance, the better the conditions and situation of the accommodation, as is usual in the tourism sector due to the supply, demand and dates.
- Possibility of 5-star luxury accommodation and personalized tours: see supplements.
